“There are a couple of exceptions – Sonic the Hedgehog 1 and 2 will remain available via SEGA AGES on the Nintendo Switch and Sonic the Hedgehog 2 will still be playable via SEGA Genesis on Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack,” the publisher confirmed.
These standalone games will be removed from digital storefronts on 20th May 2022, to be replaced by the upcoming Sonic Origins compilation which will release a little more than a month later. SEGA has warned that it will soon delist four classic Sonic games from digital storefronts – Sonic the Hedgehog, Sonic the Hedgehog 2, Sonic 3 & Knuckles and Sonic CD.
